Vitamin B1 deficiency in patients with postural tachycardia syndrome (POTS).
The study explores the prevalence of vitamin B1 deficiency in patients with Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS) and the effect of supplementation. A review of medical records for 65 POTS patients revealed that 6% had a vitamin B1 deficiency. In cases where deficiency was present, vitamin B1 supplementation resulted in significant symptom improvement in 25% of those patients. The findings suggest that vitamin B1 deficiency could be a contributing factor in a subset of POTS cases, and testing for and correcting this deficiency is recommended as part of patient management.
