Vanderbilt POTS Research Update 2015 - Dr. Satish Raj

In this update given at the 2015 Dysautonomia International Annual Conference, Dr. Satish Raj discussed several key research projects related to POTS, including studies on brain fog, a breathing device to manage symptoms, and a large patient survey. The research identified problems with attention and concentration in POTS patients through formal cognitive testing, as well as assessing the potential of modafinil to improve cognitive function without significantly affecting heart rate. Additionally, a breathing device, originally developed for military use, was shown to decrease heart rate and improve stroke volume for some patients. Dr. Raj also introduced the 'Big POTS Survey', aimed at collecting comprehensive data on the patient experience, including financial and social impacts, to better understand the condition beyond selective clinical samples.
