Spectrum of Autonomic Nervous System Impairment in Sjögren Syndrome.
This study explores the range of autonomic dysfunctions associated with Sjögren syndrome in a group of 13 patients. All participants exhibited symptoms like postural lightheadedness and syncope. Autonomic testing revealed varied results, including orthostatic hypotension, postural tachycardia, and hypertensive responses among patients, with some also showing gastrointestinal or genitourinary impairments. The study emphasizes the importance of considering Sjögren syndrome as a potential diagnosis in patients with autonomic dysfunction and notes that patients benefitted from immune-modulating therapies.
