Sinus Tachycardia: a Multidisciplinary Expert Focused Review.
This review provides a comprehensive analysis of sinus tachycardia (ST), which is common yet complex, as it can occur without clear physiological triggers and may indicate underlying health issues. It distinguishes types of ST, such as those secondary to identifiable conditions (like pulmonary embolism or hyperthyroidism) and those associated with less well-defined conditions (such as inappropriate ST, postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS), mast cell activation syndrome (MCAS), or post-COVID syndrome). Evaluating patients with ST requires a multidisciplinary approach due to its various potential etiologies. This article, authored by international experts from different medical fields, aims to enhance understanding and improve patient care by covering classification, possible causes, and management challenges associated with ST.
