Radiofrequency venous ablation for symptomatic relief in postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome: a case series.

This case series explores the use of radiofrequency venous ablation (RFA) as a novel treatment for patients with Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS) who also exhibit venous insufficiency and are unresponsive to standard treatments. Four patients showed significant symptomatic relief and improved quality of life following RFA, targeting the great and small saphenous veins. The study highlights the potential of RFA to address dysautonomia symptoms exacerbated by lower extremity venous pooling. While promising, these findings suggest the need for further research, including randomized clinical trials, to assess the efficacy and standardize the treatment protocol for a broader POTS patient population.
