Postural tachycardia syndrome (POTS) with anti-NMDA receptor antibodies after human papillomavirus vaccination.
This study discusses a case involving a young woman who developed Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS) with anti-NMDA receptor antibodies following vaccination with the HPV vaccine, Cervarix. Despite having these antibodies, she did not show signs of encephalitis. Her POTS symptoms significantly improved with immunomodulatory therapy, and symptoms reappeared upon cessation of therapy, pointing towards an autoimmune mechanism for her condition post-vaccination. This case suggests the potential for an autoimmune origin of POTS and indicates that immunomodulatory therapy might be a viable treatment path for similar cases.
