Mast cell activation symptoms are prevalent in Long-COVID.

This study explores the relationship between mast cell activation (MCA) symptoms and Long-COVID (LC). Researchers recruited adults from Facebook LC support groups and assessed MCA-related symptoms before and after COVID-19, as well as validated fatigue and quality of life metrics. They compared these results with data from general population controls and MCAS patients. The findings suggest that MCA symptoms in LC resemble those in untreated MCAS, indicating that heightened mast cell activation post-COVID-19 might contribute to LC symptoms. This link offers potential pathways to explore effective therapies for LC based on managing MCA.
