Joint hypermobility syndrome: A common clinical disorder associated with migraine in women.

This study explores the relationship between joint hypermobility syndrome (JHS), a condition related to Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, and migraines, particularly in women. It found that women with JHS have a significantly higher prevalence of migraines, as well as increased frequency and severity (disability) of these headaches, compared to a control group without JHS. Specifically, 75% of JHS patients reported migraines versus 43% in the control group. The findings suggest that JHS could be a strong contributing factor to the development of migraines, indicating a co-morbid relationship that may influence how clinicians approach the treatment and management of female JHS patients suffering from migraines.
