How We Treat Autoimmune Small Fiber Polyneuropathy with Immunoglobulin Therapy.

The article explores the use of intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG) therapy for treating autoimmune small fiber polyneuropathy, a condition often associated with autonomic dysfunction like POTS. Although IVIG is FDA-approved for other nerve disorders, its application for dysautonomia has shown significant efficacy. However, a common side effect among these patients is the development of aseptic meningitis or severe lingering headaches when IVIG is administered in the traditional dosage. The authors draw from their 27 years of combined experience to discuss the benefits and challenges of using IVIG and other immune modulatory therapies for managing symptoms of autoimmune small fiber polyneuropathy.
