Four nutrition findings with Jill Brook, MA
In this episode of the POTScast, hosted by Mike Brook with guest Jill Brook, a retired nutritionist and POTS patient, four nutritional findings are discussed that may be beneficial to individuals with POTS, even though the studies were not directly conducted on POTS patients. The findings suggest that chewing may increase blood flow to the brain and improve cognitive function, vitamin C could help alleviate various types of pain, increased fruit and vegetable intake is associated with better mood and mental health, and dietary nitrates from vegetables might improve exercise tolerance. Although these findings are not specific to POTS, Jill notes their potential relevance due to common POTS symptoms like brain fog, pain, mood disturbances, and exercise intolerance. She emphasizes the importance of consulting with a healthcare provider before making changes based on these findings.
