Efficacy of Medication Treatment in Pediatric POTS

Dr. Jeffrey Boris reviews research on the efficacy of various medications in treating pediatric POTS symptoms, based on a large retrospective study of over 700 patients. Medications including fludrocortisone, midodrine, and desmopressin showed varying efficacy for symptoms like dizziness and lightheadedness, with beta-blockers helping some patients with headaches. Nonpharmacological treatments like increased fluids and exercise were also emphasized. The study highlighted the need for individualized treatment plans and recognized the variability in patient responses to medications. Future research, including prospective and larger scale studies, is necessary to establish more definitive treatment efficacy.
