Comorbidities and neurosurgical interventions in a cohort with connective tissue disorders.

This study investigates the comorbidities and the necessity of neurosurgical interventions in patients with connective tissue disorders, particularly hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (hEDS). The research analyzed 717 individuals referred for neurosurgical evaluation to assess the prevalence of specific comorbidities and the rate at which these necessitated surgical procedures. The findings underscore the complexity and intertwined nature of comorbid conditions in hEDS patients and highlight the need for comprehensive evaluation when considering surgical intervention. This study emphasizes the importance of diagnosing and understanding the comorbid spectrum in this patient population to inform potential neurosurgical treatment strategies.
